Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award. An award of up to $1,500 will be granted to a doctoral student or faculty member who attends and presents a paper at the WRIEC 2025 Annual Meeting in Calgary, Canada from August 3-7, 2025. The objective of the award is “to extend the opportunity to attend the ARIA Annual Meeting to those who would not otherwise attend, yet would benefit from the interaction with their peers.”

To be eligible for the award, an applicant must:

  • be a Ph.D. student or faculty member from a U.S. or foreign university
  • have a research paper accepted for presentation at the 2025 WRIEC Annual Meeting
  • explain their funding situation for the purpose of attending the 2025 WRIEC Annual Meeting

Applications can be submitted now, prior to applicants learning about their paper's acceptance status. The deadline for submission is April 1, 2025. Priority will be given to applicants who lack funding from their institution for the purpose of attending the WRIEC 2025 Annual Meeting in Calgary, Canada. If more than one paper is eligible for consideration, the selection decision will be based on the academic merits of the paper. Decisions will be communicated via email no later than May 15, 2025, possibly earlier.

To apply for the award, applicants must submit a completed application form, a curriculum vita and their paper that is being reviewed for the 2025 WRIEC Annual Meeting. Application materials should be sent to via email to Brad Karl ([email protected]) with the subject “Hagen Travel Award Application.”
